“Aditya Chopra was deeply moved while watching Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. The last time I saw him being so moved was when Yash uncle passed away” – Rani Mukerji

The makers of Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway held an interesting event to promote their hard-hitting drama thriller on Friday, March 10. It is inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty whose children were taken away by the government of Norway citing that she’s not taking care of them appropriately. How she waged a legal war against the unfair system forms the crux of the film.

Rani Mukerji plays the lead character in this Ashima Chibber-directed film. She, along with the film’s producer Nikkhil Advani, had a fascinating conversation with Karan Johar about the film and a lot more. During the last leg of the conversation, Rani and Karan raised laughs as they spoke about the reaction of the former’s husband, Aditya Chopra, the head honcho of Yash Raj Films (YRF).

When asked how Aditya Chopra reacted after watching Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, Rani Mukerji replied, “He was deeply moved. I have never seen him so moved by any film. The last time I saw him being so moved was when Yash uncle (Yash Chopra) passed away.”

She continued, “Adi is a parent today. It hit him differently. After he saw the film, he didn’t give me a front hug. He gave me a side hug as if I were his child! He said, ‘Well done’. I was like, ‘Thank you’!”

Karan Johar chipped in, “That’s more than what Adi normally expresses!” Rani replied, “It seemed like he was hugging one of his many children that are there in YRF”

Karan raised laughs as he said, “I am waiting for that side hug and when he says ‘Well done’. That moment hasn’t arrived in my life in the last 30 years!” Rani then confessed, “Adi praises me behind my back. He feels that if he’ll praise me on my face, he fears that mere ghar ki Lakshmi mere sar pe dance karne lagegi.”

That’s not all. Karan Johar blurted out that he was supposed to do a film with Rani Mukerji. But the project failed to materialize due to sabotage by a person whom he didn’t name. Karan said, “When I read the announcement of Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway, I was mildly jealous. I was like, why is Rani not doing a Dharma Production film? Like this is not fair. We won’t tell everybody in the audience who sabotaged a certain Dharma Production film that we were going to do! We won’t tell you (the audience) that!”

Rani Mukerji laughed as she said, “At least people know that if you get me a good script, I’ll work anywhere. My husband works with so many actresses. Why should I not work with other producers?”
