Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh’s Marathi movie Ved has brought back the good days for the Marathi industry as it has garnered positive collections at the box office. The real and reel life couple organized a grand celebration of the film’s success to mark the occasion.
Both Riteish and Genelia were seen wearing T-shirts with the word ‘Ved’ inscribed in Marathi as they cut a cake in presence of the media and guests.
The occasion also doubled up as the 20 years celebration of Ritesh and Genelia’s Bollywood movie Tujhe Meri Kasam, which, co-incidentally, completed the milestone yesterday (it was released on January 3, 2003). The film was also the debut vehicle for both the actors.
Speaking at the completion of two decades for Tujhe Meri Kasam, Riteish said at the event, “The film has completed 20 years today. Thank you all of you for that. Thank you so much for being with us for the last 20 years. And just like the first film, we just feel that this is just the beginning.”
Directed by K Vijaya Bhaskar, Tujhe Meri Kasam was adapted from the 1999 Malayalam film Niram. The film also marked the Hindi film debut for the southern star Shriya Saran.
Interestingly, in the last 20 years, Tujhe Meri Kasam has been re-released quite a few times in some small towns of Maharashtra because of its fan following.
